In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Cy-Fair Home & Garden Show will admit every 10th person through the gate for free on Feb. 18 and 19 at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road in Cypress.
“We have signed up several new exhibitors and speakers this year,” said Tony Wood, president of Texwood Inc., producer of the Cy-Fair Home & Garden Show. “Whether you’re looking to update rooms inside your home or add an outdoor living element, we’ll have products on display and experts available to answer questions, make suggestions, or point you in the right direction to get started on turning the home you have into the home you want.”
Turning a basic bath area into a luxurious spa is a popular home update that provides a relaxing experience for the homeowner as well as increases the value of the property. Visitors of the Cy-Fair Home & Garden Show will have an opportunity to visit with specialists, see some before and after photos, and enter their names for a chance at a $10,000 Bathroom Makeover Giveaway from NewLuxe Bath Glass. Also available throughout both days of the show are experts who will provide information about products from various hardware manufacturers, including Kohler and Delta Faucet, at the Bath Hardware Showcase by MIB Remodeling.
Outdoor living – hardscapes and landscapes – is getting a lot of attention from today’s homeowners. To address the increasing popularity of these simple, yet valuable, changes a homeowner can make, the show is bringing in the recently updated Belgard Hardscapes Mobile Display. Crisscrossing the country, the semi-truck is filled with brand-new hardscape designs and products to provide curb appeal or turn the surrounding property into an extension of the house with the addition of pavers, a fireplace, an outdoor kitchen, or even a pizza oven. The experts at Turf Plus Management will be an outdoor patio made of Belgard Hardscape products and will be on hand to answer any questions. If a new swimming pool makes the list of a home’s updates, homeowners will be able to hear from Ted Ritts of the new pool construction department at The Pool Man, who will share information about his company’s products and services.
Literal and figurative “green” home questions will be addressed by experts such as Randy Lemmon, host of GardenLine on KTRH AM 740, and Bill Murphy, a Solar Energy Expert and manager of Sugar Land’s Sweetwater Energy Services. And homeowners who are looking for live plants, seeds or garden décor can get started on expanding their greenspace with a trip through the RCW Nurseries In-Show Garden Market.
In presentations scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. on each day of the show, Dr. Lori, an art history Ph.D. and star appraiser on the Discovery channel’s “Auction Kings,” will share her extensive knowledge of antiques and collectibles, including how to avoid scams when buying or selling. As an added bonus, she will provide identification and valuation on items brought to the show.
“I always look forward to my shows with a great deal of anticipation,” she said. “I never know what ‘gems’ will come through the door, and love meeting members of the audience and hearing the stories of their items’ provenance.”
Those attending the show who know there’s little value in the things collected over that years that somehow take over their living space, will have an opportunity for an expert opinion on where to begin taking their homes back. Just in time to make plans for the annual Spring cleaning ritual, Professional Organizer Judson Crowder of Restorganize will lead “Ask The Organizer” question and answer sessions on each day of the show. Sherwin-Williams Color Experts line here.
Food lovers and home chefs can get a taste of something different as local H-E-B chefs cook up some of their favorite recipes on the H-E-B Cooking Stage and provide free samples of the finished product while supplies last. In addition, the Cousins Maine Lobster food truck will be among those set up outside the show to provide a quick bite of their unique lobster specialties.
Show hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19. Tickets for the Cy-Fair Home & Garden Show are cash only at $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and children 12 years and younger can attend for free.
