Get Organized - Why Not?

Featured speaker and Professional Organizer Linda Ely Durham examines the reasons people try to get organized but struggle to accomplish it at the sixth annual Cy-Fair Home and Garden Show.

"I want people to realize that they aren't alone in this process," says Durham, owner of Organizing Matters®, who has been helping clients in the Houston area since 1999. "That's why I offer my support via phone, email or text message to every person that attends my presentation – at no charge – for as long as they need me." And she means it.

"Whatever your reason for not getting organized, I have no doubt there is a solution to overcome it," says Durham. "No one is hopeless. If you are living and breathing, there is a way to do it. There is hope for everyone - period."

Her presentation "Get Organized – Why Not?" analyzes the root of our organizational struggles and offers thoughtful and poignant suggestions to succeed in living an organized life.

"Many times, people don't know why they can't get started," says Durham. "Once you identify and understand your personal reasons, you can move forward and address them."

Durham's session provides both the philosophical rationale and practical resources to guide you through your next project on your own. She addresses common obstacles, shares basic de-cluttering techniques and outlines basic organizational principles.

"I want to give people everything that they need to take a project and run with it," says Durham. "Organizing involves a lot of problem solving. Very rarely does one product save the world... but manila file folders come close."

Durham earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. She was a stay-at-home mom for nine years and served as director of a youth ministry for three years. After moving to Houston in 1999, she started her own business, Organizing Matters, where she now works as a professional organizer, consultant and speaker.

Durham is a member the National Association of Professional Organizers and the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization. She is the founder of the only community of Christian professional organizers -- Faithful Organizers.

Durham is one of several presenters who will appear at the Sixth Annual Cy-Fair Home and Garden show, with topics ranging from gardening and landscaping to color consulting, home decor and more.
